New section required?

The thought occurs to me that the current section for 'Classic VFRs' is getting a little confused. Originally it was set up for owners of the first generation VFRs (the FG, FH, FJ & FK models from 1986 - 1989) to have their own section to discuss these grand old bikes.

As time goes by, more and more VFRs start to fall under the 'Classic' umbrella; after all the last of the 750s was the FV (if memory serves correctly) and they must be at least 13 years old now. How time flies...

I was wondering if it would make sense for the powers that be to set up another section to cater for the later single-sided swingarm 750s, in addition to the one for the FG, FH, FJ & FK models. The early models all had the RC24 designation, and the later 750s had the RC36 designation. Would it make sense to add an extra section for the RC36 models?

If I was able to make this into a poll, I would have done - but either I'm a bit thick or I'm not able to. I'd be interested to hear people's comments...

OK Schtum, now I've got your attention - what do you think of the idea? Does it have merit, does it go too far, or does it not go far enough? Is there a place for model-specific sections of the forum ( we actually have some by default, I think...) ?

Sounds like a good idea. There are after all sections for 400 and 1200's, so sections for the RC24\RC36\RC46 would keep everybody happy!-)

The more I think about it, the more it makes sense, especially as this section is rapidly becoming a dumping ground for all things VFR750 (all models) related.

How do we get the attention of a friendly moderator...?

Offer to sell something...? :sofa:

I'd offer to sell my body but medical science have told me it's not worth anything....:f::blush::blush:

Which also appears to be the moderators view of your excellent idea.

Bump...

And I shall keep on 'bumping' until someone takes notice....

Perhaps I should post this in the General section as well...?
I shall mull this over a little & see what can be done ?

PS the idea I had will not work, so I will PM Wiz and run the request past him.

Good ideas dont' have to come from sponsors :dunno: I think Mike was just explaining why mango couldn't start a poll.

If people think it's a good idea, I'm happy to run with it. Just so I'm clear, are you suggesting two sub-forums, under the classic section for double and single-sided swingers?

Great idea Mango. RC36 deserves it's own section. Can we also have it in colours as the Italian Red is the fastest and best lol.

I'll get me coat

I think that could work quite well; an overall 'Classic VFRs' section, with Sub-forums for RC24 (FG/FH/FJ/FK) and RC36 (FL/FM/FN/FP/FR/FS/FT/FV). It might be worth making the distinction between double and single-sided swingarm models in the description (as well as the model designations).

At some point in the (probably not too distant) future, another sub-forum could easliy be added for the RC46 fuel-injected 800cc models, as they are mostly 10 years + old now..

But the VTEC models will never be classics, of course, as they don't have gear-driven cams... :d:

Bumping this thread again, as it does occur to me that we could really do with separate sections under 'Classic VFRs' for the RC24 models (FG/FH/FJ/FK) and the RC36 models (FL/FM/FN/FP/FR/FS/FT/FV). Or even separate top-level sections, as the latest VFR1200 has one.

Any friendly mods listening? I believe Beast was thinking about a cunning plan, but it never came to fruition...
