I bought one of these last week and when i went to fit it I noticed the cable has its shielding slightly pared so I can see the bare wire when I twist it slightly. Has anyone else got these units and if so does yours do the same or is mine faulty?
I would definitely, from what I can see in the picture, say that's a fault or damage. You might have problems convincing the supplier that it's the former rather than the latter though.
It looks like the strain relief boot has either split or been cut somehow. If there's evidence of of weakness in the boot where it's failed then you would certainly have a solid case to press for a replacement. Faulty moulding or too thin? As a strain relief boot it should be able to withstand a certain amount of tension on the wire...
Yes the seller was replying saying that he has other units and they are the same that it is not an issue but I wasnt having that for a second. I told them to contact the manufacturer and discuss with them about a possible faulty batch. They must be reading this forum as I've just got a reply back in the last couple of mins saying they will replace it :d:
I just got one of these last week and fitted it to my new C3 Pro.
Do you have the standard speakers and mic or are you using the Pro Sound kit?
One observation though. You have the cable running inside the mount rather than outside it. It looks like this is putting more strain on the moulding where the cable turns and that's what cracked it. I may be wrong but that's what it looks like.
I have the Pro Sound and it seems to be fine. But I have left a bit more cable looped from under the helmet collar to the Interphone unit.
