Honda CTX 1300

Anyone ridden one and care to share your experience? It's a rare thing this "Miniwing", fitted with a detuned Pan European engine at its heart. Ahuh, a V4 bagger.

In the interests of slowing down and smelling the roses, so to speak, this now deleted bike from the Honda range is of interest, perhaps? You'll note from the photo that the rear pipes are actually 'fake' and just there to add a bit of shiny. Begging for a decat and nice set of slash cut pipes if you ask me.... :)

I thought it was quite a nice restyle that cried out to be carried over to the Pan, but why oh why the detune? I just don’t get Hondas obsession with detuning engines to create lesser models.

Looks like exhausts on both sides are "real" and mirror image of each other.

Perhaps a 'full fat' Pan motor would have eaten into Goldwing sales too much? Mind you, I don't think the Wing sells by the bucket load and neither did the CTX, perhaps because it lacked a full power Pan motor and a sixth gear? It's still an interesting motorcycle and one I'll keep an eye on. It also looks pretty good in red.

Cheers. SIOM.

It looks great by why do Honda think they will command a greater market with a model with so much less power. Mmm not sure but still interested :)

I’d say they look like the silencer with cat enclosed, possibly in the first piece where the two downpipes enter the can.

Okay. Anyone, even including Honda CTX1300 exhaust, experts, actually ridden one? :hydrogen:

Here's the man responsible for the design concept giving us the benefit.... And even he's bleeting on about the, exhausts.... lol

Fraid not, only sat on one at the nec show a few moons back. I honestly dont think I’ve seen a single one anywhere else. I’d guess they’ve probably only actually sold a handfull, and most of them were probably demo bikes to start with.

Cheers dude. If it's meant to be? one will be available to try next year. My big concern would be going from an 160bhp K1300s to a 78hp cruiser - it might feel like I'm riding everywhere with the handbrake on? lol.

I was lent one while my VFR was in for a service a couple of years ago, had the choice of that or a CB1000r, so I thought I would try something different. It was December, cold and wet so probably not ideal riding conditions but the bike was well balanced and pokey enough to have some fun on. Played with the stereo, and had some limited fun on the local back roads but probably only covered 20 miles max, so hardly a proper test of its credentials.

I didnt get on with the riding position, but I found it to be an enjoyable bike to ride and I certianly didnt take myself too seriously while on it.
