Helooo!

Well, Its been a long time, been a long time, been a long, lonely, lonely, lonely time! :d:

So I've decided to do a Cotswold bash like the previous Anni bashes etc.

Date:

Friday 9th May -

Meet in a pub yet to be announced about 6.30pm, have a couple of beers. I'll go get whatever choices people want from the nearby chippy, eat at the folks place. Then after Dinner theres almost always music playing in one of Burfords pubs (cant guarantee what type) so we can go have a gander at that then stagger bag to the folks for a Nightap.

If you have a particular tipple you like drop it off at the beginning of the night at the shop and we can drink the night away on our return

Saturday 10th May - Main rideout, wont start before 10.30am (and this is me talking anyhow!! ;) )

I'll post up a route soon I promise. I have one in mind its just a case of getting it put on Google or the likes. I'm thinking we might head on down to Wookey hole but stop at a set location for lunch so if Nev and Sue or anyone who we lose wants to meet they can do so there.

Have a look in the show cave then head home. Back for a shower then out in Burford for the evening's drinks and dinner, culminating once again in a nightcap back at the folks and finishing off the tipples from the night before

If the weather is awful on Saturday (proper non-stop rain) then theres a couple of local attractions we can visit, quite possibly using mine and Tans cars.

Sunday 11th May -

I imagine most will have brekky and head home but for those who are local or fancy staying on, we might do a couple of hours rideout for a lunch stop then home if the demand is there.

Lots of acommodation in Burford, I suggest the Travelodge at the top for "reasonable" prices, or the caravan site, which may do camping too, but theres hotels for anything better and you might find the odd cheap B&B about if you do your homework. I'll post a few details of hotels below later but if you want the B&B route, Burford tourist office can help :)

I will be posting up and getting Biker mates from "All over the place" ;) and you are all very welcome to do the same as long as they arent total knobheads when it comes to the rideouts.

If you havent done one of my bashes (its been a while) they're normally well worth coming along to and I'm hoping there will be plenty of the old faces as well as the new :d:

So Who's Coming?? :yo:

Ok so an idea as a route on the Saturday if the weather is good would be this one to Wookey Hole. Set off from Burford at 10.30am and we should get there by about 1.30pm for some lunch. I havent mapped a stop for a break either way but I imagine we will need one about an hour into the journey so we can see where we are and play it by ear. Maybe Bradford on Avon or somewhere for a quick coffee?:)

As a side thought I just checked the price of Wookey hole tours and its ?15 an adult unless you're in the services. The troggs (the group of us who like our castles and caves) have been meaning to go for ages so I'm assuming we will still be going in but if anyone is strapped for cash its only a couple of miles outside wells and its famous cathedral where we may well stop for lunch anyhow depending on whether I can find a place to park the bikes, so if you want you can have a browse round there for 90 mins or so and we can all meet up afterwards :)

I tired to upload a jpg of the route but its saying service unavailable once I click "upload" so you can see the full map on Google at:

https://goo.gl/maps/JQ3i9

Any suggestions? :)

It a shame that this clashes with the Yorkshire ride out. I'm sure many would have enjoyed both.

I've been before on these weekends and loved it. I just checked the Travelodge and it's ?184 for two night FFS!!! :t::t:

Maybe I'll stay in Yorkshire that weekend.

Indeed Mick the Travelodge does seem pricey that weekend. It appears they have an event on :(

However, The premier Inn at Witney (share a mini bus) is ?75/night or as an example of the B&B's in Burford, The priory Tearooms is ?67.50 for a double ensuite.

Its the only date I can do so looks like it might be a smaller gathering of close buddies this time.

..All the better for the rideouts ;)

Oh feck. You've chosen the weekend that I hand over the bike to a mad wheelie-prone Aussie so he can fulfil his sad Antipodean dreams of going to the NW200 and TT. Probably won't see the old girl again. Definitely won't see the back tyre again....... Have a nice weekend.

So anyone else up for this or is it gonna be just a handful.

Doesnt bother me either way, (Just trying to get things back how they were but not looking likely) but with such a small number I will probably avoid any arranging of cheap meal options or possibly a band depending on numbers as i cant justify asking the pub to get someone in unless theres a few of us.

Should still be a goog weekend as theres always the Blackviffers place for whisky ;-)

Day ride

Right!

As most people Have expressed only maybe's and theres not much banter. I'm just wondering where this is going.

Currently its just the normal Troggs (the Jabbs and Geoff and Weronika) and red Mick who are definites so I think the answer is that as long as weather allows, this will just become a full days rideout on Saturday (a full day being from about 10.30 or 11am knowing me :p), southwards towards bath sort of thing (perhaps we'll finally get to Wooky hole when its open but that might be a bit far) and any of you ugly lot are more than welcome to join us.

Evening plans will probably become dinner at a local pub and copious amounts of booze. so if you're there then your there.

So there you go, done what I could but let me know if you want to come along on the Saturday ride everyone is very much welcome :) .

Well now we're starting to get a nice little posse for both nights (is everyone who's said their definitely coming, coming Friday AND Saturday?) I was thinking a bit more about a plan.

Friday:

Meet in a pub yet to be announced, have a couple of beers.

If anyone has complete aversion to Good ol fish n chips (or whatever you choose) let me know and we can look into other takeaways but as space is a bit limited they're easier to eat in numbers than asian/oriental.

Saturday:

Thinking we'll set off for a bike ride about 10.30am.

Back for a shower then out in Burford for the evening's drinks and dinner, culminating once again in a nightcap back at the folks and finishing off the tipples from the night before :yo:

If the weather is awful on Saturday (proper non-stop rain) then theres a couple of local attractions we can visit, quite possibly using mine and Tans cars.

Does that sound good to everybody? :d:

Had a great weekend riding out with Martyn Lewis to get some practise in for next weekend. :d:

I've been thinking (rare I know!), and as it is likely we will be arriving back in Burford quite late on the Saturday night I should probably book somewhere to eat. the choices would be either the indian 3 doors down on the highstreet or The mermaid pub (normal pub style food, steaks lasagne etc).

Do people have any preferences (or dislike either)?

Also I think we'll Lunch at Wookey as it has a restaurant doing hot food until 3pm, free parking, lockers (?1) and adventure golf included in the ticket price (always a deal maker for tan and I although we might not get time).

Another brainwave I had was that for those who don't have brekky booked is that we might go before the trip to Chariots and cherry pie, which is an American diner (temporary at the moment until the finish renovating) a couple of miles from our house. The website has a menu and also a ?1 of voucher so you might want to download one each ;-)

http://www.chariotsandcherrypie.co.uk/

If you don't want brekky here or its included where you stay (note to those staying at my house..This IS your breakfast ;) :f:) then I'll give you directions and you can meet us here at 10am. Else we'll be eating there from 9.15am.

This does mean we will have to be relatively controlled on Friday night but I'm sure there will be a few beers and whisky's throughout the evening.

As before a guaranteed wet day will bugger all this up and we'll find something else to do instead (Crocodile world or a trip into Oxford or something. If you want to, bring your cossie cos theres a pool close to us with sauna and steamroom)

All good? If so let me know 1) if you have an aversion to pub food or indian and 2) if you plan on coming along to brekky or will meet us there later. :)

Prefer pub grub to Indian. breakfast in digs.

Weren't we riding out at 10.30 originally? If we have to leave Burford to arrive at diner for 10, that's an early breakfast then?

Are the facilities at Wookey beyond the pay to enter, was it £15 a head you mentioned? (£18 at the gate, or £15 in advance BTW). Or are they freely accesible?

Hi Speedy, I have a pass for this but my participation will be weather dependant to a degree. The weather forecast is looking a bit grim for Saturday, even doing the usual of looking for a forecast that I like the look of, but what do they know...

I assume that Chariots and Cherry Pie are located at the former Little Chef here :dunno: [edit]just noticed that they mention the Little Chef on their home page... so that's a yes on the location :goofy: :dunce:[/edit]

What time would you anticipate leaving from there? [edit]just seen your other post, 9am for a 10am departure[/edit]

I'd probably split from the group, heading for home, around Cirencester on the way back.

Hoping very much for a great days riding ahead :)
