Well would you believe it, ten years on and we’re still here :d: :f:. So that sounds like a good excuse for a social... and what a great social we have lined up for you!

Our destination is the historic city of Cambridge.

As well as being an amazing city, Cambridge knows how to entertain its guests, with over 18,000 discerning students it has to offer both variety and value and it certainly lives up to expectations! It will be well worth taking a few hours off from riding on the Friday to explore some of the many taverns and tea rooms on offer, or even take a punt down the river Cam.

If you are interested in science, Cambridge is an Aladdin’s cave of interesting places to visit. I once popped into an unassuming museum and was amazed to discover Darwin’s original notebooks on display, the ones he actually wrote on his epic voyage aboard the beagle. Ex students also include Sir Isaac Newton and of course, Stephen Hawking, who still lectures there.

The hotel is the Cambridge Hotel and Golf Club, a four star hotel set, unsurprisingly, on a golf course!

It has a full health and fitness spa, with an indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna etc . I’ve got a cracking deal for twins and doubles, singles are expensive as usual I'm afraid so try to double up if you possibly can.

Dinner is included.

So the itinerary looks like this:

Thursday: Meet at the hotel, drinks in the bar followed by dinner and then I’m going to host the long promised Garmin “workshop” that people have been asking me to do for some while. I’ll have a room with a big screen and I’ll show you tips and tricks on using Mapsource to find all the best biking roads. I’ll also cover how to easily upgrade your maps, how to plot a route along the best biking roads without knowing the area, use Google earth to fly down your route before you set off and see exactly how good the roads are. Find good places to stop along the route etc.

Friday: Shortish Ride-out in the surrounding countryside, loads of great places to visit and a surprising number of great roads to ride. In the afternoon we’ll head into Cambridge and check out some of the City before returning to the hotel. Immediately after dinner, I’ve arranged for Live music from International singer star Phil Cavill. Phil came to see us once before but because of a monumental cockup with the equipment, couldn’t sing much for us. This time however he’ll be bringing all his own equipment and I promise you an awesome evening. For those of you who don’t know Phil, he has played in many of the West End shows, including the lead in Les Misérables and Miss Saigon. He’s also sung at the opening ceremony at Wembley Stadium and for the Queen at the Royal Albert Hall. He can do a wide variety of different music styles so think of some requests before the night!

Saturday: Our big ride-out, I’ll be posting the route later but you can expect some great roads with lots of tea and cake stops :D. In the evening, they’ll be a buffet dinner music from the resident DJ until the early hours of the morning.

Sunday: Breakfast and goodbyes… :B:

Cost:

Twins and doubles: £47 per person per night. This includes breakfast AND dinner.

Singles: Painful as ever I’m afraid, basically you get a double room anyway £77 per person per night.

Entertainment. There will be a one off charge of £15 pp for the entertainment and room hire and that covers all three nights!

Booking, use the Paypal button below to pay your £15 deposit. This deposit will then be used as your payment towards the entertainment, for your room you’ll pay the hotel direct. I’ll let you know if that needs to be before the date.

The hotel has only 25 rooms left and it's first come, so book early!

Hope to see you there!

Sorry guys, I've confused people over the deposits for this when booking only one or two nights...

If you are coming Friday night only, you need to pay ?10 each

If you are coming Saturday night only, you need to pay ?5 each

If you are coming on Thursday night only (unlikely I know) you don't pay anything, just email me and I'll tell the hotel for you.

For now, don't worry about what the paypal button says, just put a message in with the payment confirming what it's for and I'll book you in accordingly.

If anyone has already sent me too much just email em and I'll refund you.

Cheers
