After much discussion, we've decided it makes sense to combine the AGRO with the "Avoid the wedding weekend".

So, we are staying at the Brynafon hotel in Rhayader. A hotel we know well and have enjoyed many times in the past.

The hotel as is surrounded by some of the finest roads/goat tracks and scenery to be found anywhere in the country.

We'll kick off on Friday 29th April with a meet at Burford in Oxford at midday for the ride to the hotel, aiming to arrive late afternoon. Of course you are welcome to make your own way to Wales so we'll see you there.

There will be organised rideouts on Saturday to explore the stunning roads and scenery, possibly visiting the nearby Elan Valley, Snowdonia or perhaps the Brecon Beacons.

I'm just waiting for price confirmation and then I'll post up some booking links.

Please post here if you're interested, ther hotel is quite small and so rooms will have to be on a first come basis.

Hope to see some of you there!

OK, bearing in mind lots of people have just done a weekend away in the Peeks together and that we have the Auvergne trip looming, we've only booked 6 rooms for this weekend. I might be able to get more on request.

It's a high rate weekend but Gerald has done us a good deal.

The rates below are Per Person/per night and include Bed, Full Welsh Breakfast and Dinner. On the Saturday night, there will be five course "Royal" dinner on offer which might attract a small suppliment, although I'm working on losing that ;).

We have rooms available for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights if you want to do all three.

Rate for two people sharing:
£53.95

Rate for person in a single room:
£63.95

Payment direct to the hotel on the night, but I will need a firm confirmation if you are coming, else it's not fair to the hotel.

Coming:

Friday Night

Dave and Claire (Bitwobbly & Crystal Tips)
Keith and Angie (Wiz & Angie)
Huw (Gog) single room
Raul plus SWMBO
2dogs (Russ)

Saturday Night

Dave and Claire (Bitwobbly & Crystal Tips)
Keith and Angie (Wiz & Angie)
Huw (Gog) single room
Raul plus SWMBO

Sunday Night

Dave and Claire (Bitwobbly & Crystal Tips) (poss - depend on weather :) )
Keith and Angie (Wiz & Angie) (poss - DOW)

Wiz it strikes me as strange that the guy in the second foto, (black jacket, blue flash) seems to have a head the size of a small bungalow.

Is it Big Ed?

I should be back with a reliable tickover by then and it's only down the road a bit - good roads, too... Hmmm! Interesting!

Shame I can't make this one as I'm up in the Yorkshire Dales from the 27th-30th April, Camping with the bike would you believe!!

For anyone who hasn't stayed there before, its a great Hotel and with some stunning roads around there.

don't forget to ride the A463 between Newtown and Llandrindod Wells 22 miles of what must be oner of the best biking roads in the country.

Hi Ya Paul,

I know it is, however you must admit it is a good road though!!
Hope you and Debs are back to full health and back on the bike.

Steve,

We are not too bad except for loads of physio and we have been back on the bike :yo:

Deb says its a good road except its a bit hard when you bounce off it :( but we did not have a dutch motorhome to break our fall :f:

For the sake of clarity I think you mean the A483.

A cracking road but at the weekend can be crowded with power rangers and other traffic. Wag had his head-on crash on this road last year, he was lucky to survive TBH and was quite possibly saved by the fact that the helicopter ambulance had just been reinstated after a lay-off due to the volcanic activity in Iceland. I'm sure the stats for bikes aren't too great as it can lure you on quite easily. Ride and enjoy but be dammed careful.

I rode it a couple of weeks ago and the light in colour high grip surface on some of the corners at the Newtown end seems to have suffered badly over the winter and not yet been repaired.

Does the underwhelming response tell us that this might just not be the best week end for the AGRO??
Well I for one can't make it. I would love to get away from the wedding fever but family expectations dictate otherwise. Apparently I'm not allowed to miss out on the fun  :h:

Shame, as this ride-out is relatively on my doorstep, would normally be easy to win SWMBO over for a day pass.

Unfortunately, I am required to be the dutiful uncle at my nephews’ 3rd and 5th birthday celebrations that weekend.
