Evening all, after advice re satnav mounting.Currently mounted in the middle of the bars and in sun shine can't see a thing(connected via bluetooth)
Add a tank bag and can hardly see the unit let alone the screen. So where do you mount yours please, and what mount do you use.

I had the same problem, until I got a SW-Motech / Bags Connection tankbag, with their satnav mount bracket which attaches to the back of the tankbag. I left the satnav (zumo 590LM) mount's cable long enough to allow the zumo mount to either be fastened to the tank-bag mount, or to the telferizer on the bars, both via RAM arms.

I have a Telferizer stem mount with the usual RAM mount system. I requested a stem mount of increased length from Bob, who was most helpful and obliging.I was using mine to mount a Drift Stealth 2 camera and wanted the camera high enough so as not to record the speedo. All information on site "Telferizer.com". Hopefully I have managed to upload a photo of the camera on the RAM Mount which then attaches to the ball on the Telferizer Stem mount.

I have the same mount and satnav as you, trouble is it sits upright and straight in the glare of the sun.Size of tank bag doesn't help but i think it needs to be angled to get rid of glare.
Was hoping some-one had managed to mount under the screen or similar. Will have a look for a longer telferizer as this may be the cheaper option, cheers.

I have the tallest one I could find 5.5ins. and it sits just under the top of the screen, you can still see the instruments ok and you can
tilt it towards yourself. works ok for me.
Got mine off ebay at mr_buybits I think it was £22.50 free post

Here's a link to the SW-Motech GPS Mount:

Choose the tankbag to use it with carefully; I think I have what they now call the Sport bag (IIRC they called it by another name when I bought it).

Need a longer arm on your ram mount.

I tried that, with a 6" arm, but found that the GPS (zumo 590, so quite heavy) wobbled too much, however much I tightened the RAM clamps. Also, if the arm was set for any angle much off straight up in line with the telferizer, the GPS would track a large arc across the cockpit when the handlebars were turned. And, it looked crap, especially without the tankbag fitted.

That's a 6" arm on my 800. Also have a 590lm fitted have no problems with it moving about even on rough roads. Put on the bigger arm because I was going to use a tank bag but had same prob so skipped using the bag. Did try and upload picture. Mine is mounted on the tank bolts.
Will try and upload more pics.

I do like the look of this, nice and clean.
Did the Garmin mount fit ok in the craddle.
Thanks for all reply's but i do like the look of the SW-Motech and seems to do the job.

Yes, you can fasten the Garmin's mount directly to the SW-Motech mount's plate, but I found it was best to use a RAM ball/plate on each of the SW-Mount and the Garmin mount, with a short RAM arm between those. I had the GPS sort of sat on the top of the tankbag. The whole lot is easily detachable from the tankbag, so that you can rest the GPS and the mount in the cockpit while you fill the tank. There's a bit more movement, because the tank bag is not completely rigid, but it didn't vibrate or even really wobble.

If you leave the Garmin's cable long enough to allow it to mount in either of both positions, you can 'lose' the extra cable under the front of the tank, when the GPS is mounted on the telferizer. You just pull out the extra cable when you want to mount on the top of the tankbag (even fully expanded).
