The first two screen shots are the main Garmin memory and the third one is the memory card. I updated my maps on 01.10.2017 and they appear to have gone onto the card. There are some 2014 maps on the satnav which I'm guessing were put on there in 2013, it was Europe in two halves. Id quite like to wipe it clean and start again, so how do I do that OR what can I get rid of safely? I have already made a backup of the whole lot onto my laptop and I have lifetime updates and a MyGarmin account. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards Rob.

I think the Europe in two halves might be the two files of 1.1Gb and 1.9Gb of 24.08.13. I don't think these are needed anymore as I have loaded on the 2018.10 map of Europe on the 01.10.17 and 3.8Gb.

Sorry Rob, I saw this last night but hoped that someone more knowledgeable than me might offer some advice. Here's all I can offer, which might be better described as something other than advice!

    A factory reset...
    http://www.gpsnation.com/support/gps-factory-reset/garmin-zumo-660-factory-reset.html
would be a starting point to get rid of some unnecessary stuff, but it won't get near what I wonder if you might be looking to do. Back up before doing anything!

Connect the 660 to your computer again and look at the files in Windows explorer. Open the GPX folder and delete anything you don't need in there. You'll likely have those routes in BaseCamp anyway, if you ever want them again.

Open the Voice folder and get rid of voices in languages you don't need and any that you don't want in languages you do need. Then do similar weeding in the Vehicles and Text folders.

I take it you don't have the Audible folder stuffed full of music files or talking books???

All those big map files should be original file names that either get updated every time new maps are downloaded, or are the original coarse base maps which don't get updated as far as I'm aware. The fact that your updates are being sent to your sd card suggests your 660's internal memory (4GB, I think?) is full, but I somehow doubt you'll be able to make sufficient room from what you can delete to result in map updates being installed on the device. Most of the deletable stuff consists of relatively small amounts of data. I think it's more to do with ever growing map datasets than the Zūmo being full of redundant stuff. Using good quality, micro sd cards with as high a spec as compatible with the 660 is probably the way to go (Samsung seem pretty good, both in tests and from my experience). I believe up to 32GB and class 10 cards can be accommodated. One thing to bear in mind is to keep a backup of any sd card with map data on - at very least on your PC, better still on a duplicate card which you keep with you/the sat nav/on the bike. If that original card gets corrupted, inadvertently overwritten, formatted, lost, or inadvertently swapped (ask Pete/48!) then you're stuffed until you can restore it - not easy when you're out and about.

I hope that might be vaguely useful, but I do stress that I'm no 'guru'. Where has Chas gone???

Quick reply as now on way to work!..Thanks for that Paul thats a good start. Ive only got a couple of songs and a couple of extra photos on there so they are not taking up much room. What I really want to get rid of is the 2014 maps, its Europe in two files. I think they are the gmapsupp files of 24.08.13, one on the sat nav and one on the card with a total of over 3Gb. i think when I updated on 01.10.17 because it saw the previous maps in two bit its not overwritten but instead installed Europe as one file (gmapsup1????) at 3.8Gb on the card. Am i right in thinking gmapsupp files are like the updates? gmapbmap files are the base map and must not be got rid of? and gmapprom, i dont know? i think if i get rid of the old map files then the update ive just done will fit on the sat nav without having to over run onto the card.
    Regards Rob

I don't know what dataset will be in each gmapsupp file. If you have a backup then trial and error will give answers! Try deleting and see what happens... If you delete the older stuff and still have all UK and Europe available as before then all is good. If something goes TU then reinstall the deleted. If it does work ok then try to move the later dataset from the card into internal memory. These aren't system files, so you aren't going to kill the device.

Hi Rob - map updates are getting bigger each year and you may be starting to have the same problems I experienced with my Zumo 550 (still have it) in respect of insufficient internal memory for the mapping. I resorted to downloading all western europe to the PC and then using Mapinstall transfering Ireland and Uk to Zumo internal memory and all the remainder of eeurope to the sd card. Bit of a pain having to select all the tile areas but Zumo quicker with the home countries in main memory. Bumpkin posted a way to update the mapping many months ago about removing files and then updating etc. See if you can find it as it may also be applicable to the 660 updates. If you cannot find it then let me know and I will send you a copy via e-mail (will need your e-mail address though). There are several things you can start to remove as per Pad's post above.
